11 Jul The Joker
The Joker is probably the most intense movie I have seen in a long time. Take a blend of some cult classics, Falling Down, King Of Comedy, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, and The Machinist. You’re pretty much there. Without giving too much away, it’s a portrayal as to how society has turned in on itself. How brutal if can be to those who can barely cope before disregarding all the rules of man and nature. There is humour and you can’t help but laugh. Putting my geeky hat on. Do I ever take it off? There are some slight, but awesome nods to The Dark Knight, and I maintain two things. This movie is a tie in to TDK and there is more than one Joker. Joaquin Phoenix just captivates and I’d put him second as the best actor to play the Clown Prince Of Crime behind the late Heath Ledger. Is it the movie event of the year? To some, yes, but in terms of thrills and spills. Godzilla King Of The Monsters holds that spot before The Rise Of Skywalker in December has a say. Is Joker worth seeing? Yes. Get to your local picture house. Grab a seat and watch two of Gotham’s titans be born.
